The publishers of Marijuana Business Daily will host their annual Spring Marijuana Business Conference & Expo in Orlando, Florida, May 9-11.

"This is going to be an epic year for the cannabis industry after a nearly two-year lull in state initiatives being passed," said George Jage, president of Marijuana Business Daily. "Starting with Pennsylvania becoming the 24th state to allow medical cannabis, there is also a surge of state ballot initiatives in place that will open more medical and recreational markets come November.

"Most notably, we are going to see a big change in the center of gravity of the industry from being West Coast focused to nationally focused with major markets in the Midwest, New England and Mid-Atlantic regions opening for business," Jage said.

The Marijuana Business Conference & Expo will host more than 200 exhibitors and 60 speakers. Attendance is expected to exceed 3,000 entrepreneurs, executives, and major private investors from all 50 states, Canada and Europe, according to organizers.

All seven key industry sectors will be fully represented, according to the sponsors: dispensaries and recreational retailers, wholesale growers, professional and financial services, infused product makers, private equity investors, ancillary products and tech, and testing labs.

Oaksterdam University to Prepare D.C. Residents to Work in the Legal Cannabis Industry

Oaksterdam University – which calls itself the nation’s only recognized cannabis college – On June 27 and 28 will bring to Washington, DC, the city’s first certified career training program for candidates seeking to enter the legal cannabis industry.

The two-day event, to be held at the Capital Hilton located at 1001 16th Street, NW, is sponsored by local cannabis entrepreneur Ben David Sheppard and his portfolio of cannabis companies, MD Canna-Care & Cultivation, House of Jane and Jane’s Brew Gourmet Coffees teas and other fine edibles.

The training will provide participants with the critical information they need to pursue a cannabis career, from opening a dispensary or delivery business, to structuring a legal cannabis entity, understanding their legal rights under the District’s and other states’ laws, bud tending, vending and more. The Washington, DC, certification program is a good testing ground for Oaksterdam as it eyes Washington, DC, as a potential headquarters for its planned East Coast campus.

When the District of Columbia approved Initiative 71 last November, it made possession of marijuana legal in the city. Officials estimate that the local marijuana economy could become $130 million annually. And, CannaInsider has estimated that states with legal cannabis laws will create more than 200,000 new industry jobs in 2015 alone.

New Jersey: Upcoming Atlantic City Marijuana Growing Seminar Called Nation's Largest

OaksterdamUniversityAtlanticCity

Huge crowds visit Atlantic City everyday for the purpose of gambling.

Dale Sky Jones is heading there for what she sees as a sure bet.

Dale is the chancellor of Oaksterdam University, an Oakland, California institution that is presenting an educational seminar on growing marijuana to be held in Atlantic City August 23-26.

Oaksterdam was founded in 2007 to address the growing needs of the marijuana movement, from patients to regulators. Its mission is to increase cannabis awareness and to provide students with the highest quality practical education. It has provided top-grade training for cannabis and marijuana policy reform for over 18,000 students at several campuses in the United States.

Dale said Oaksterdam is coming East in response to the groundswell of interest in the legalization of marijuana that is projected to continue at a rapid pace.

Medical marijuana currently generates an estimated $2 billion in annual sales. Those sales are expected to at least quadruple in the next five years. Currently, 23 states (in addition to D.C.) allow medical marijuana, and several more have statutes in the pipeline.

The four-day event will provide up-to-the-minute insights into the current trends of the U.S. cannabis movement, according to organizers, who said there is a sudden need for qualified job applicants who are certified to provide legal, medicinal quality marijuana, so the school covers everything about cannabis production, from seed to harvest, as well as important legal and civil rights issues.
