First-of-its-kind Cannabis Expert Calling Network (ECN®) Kicks Off at NCIA's Cannabis Business Summit and Expo

The National Cannabis Industry Association (NCIA) and Brainsy, Inc., are collaborating to launch the Cannabis Expert Calling Network (ECN®), a knowledge-sharing platform connecting cannabis industry experts with entrepreneurs and information-seekers online and via paid telephone consultations.

NCIA members who are experts in their area of the cannabis industry will be invited to set up personalized profiles on the Cannabis ECN system, which allows information-seekers to find and contact them, then conduct over-the-phone consultations at a rate set by the expert.

"With so many new people and businesses entering the cannabis industry, there is a huge demand for knowledge exchange across a range of topics including cultivation and processing, dispensary operations, intellectual property, regulatory compliance, banking issues, and many more," said Aaron Smith, executive director of NCIA.

"The Cannabis ECN will allow high-caliber, experienced cannabis professionals a simple platform to share their expertise with the large number of people seeking them out and be compensated for their time," Smith said.

The publishers of Marijuana Business Daily will host their annual Spring Marijuana Business Conference & Expo in Orlando, Florida, May 9-11.

"This is going to be an epic year for the cannabis industry after a nearly two-year lull in state initiatives being passed," said George Jage, president of Marijuana Business Daily. "Starting with Pennsylvania becoming the 24th state to allow medical cannabis, there is also a surge of state ballot initiatives in place that will open more medical and recreational markets come November.

"Most notably, we are going to see a big change in the center of gravity of the industry from being West Coast focused to nationally focused with major markets in the Midwest, New England and Mid-Atlantic regions opening for business," Jage said.

The Marijuana Business Conference & Expo will host more than 200 exhibitors and 60 speakers. Attendance is expected to exceed 3,000 entrepreneurs, executives, and major private investors from all 50 states, Canada and Europe, according to organizers.

All seven key industry sectors will be fully represented, according to the sponsors: dispensaries and recreational retailers, wholesale growers, professional and financial services, infused product makers, private equity investors, ancillary products and tech, and testing labs.

The Southwest Cannabis Conference & Expo on Monday announced special celebrity keynote speaker Montel Williams for what organizers are calling "the largest Texas cannabis conference in history."

Williams will speak Sunday, February 28 from 5:15 to 6:30 pm at the Fort Worth Convention Center, 1201 Houston St, in Fort Worth.

Montel has been traveling the country as possibly the highest profile advocate for sensible medical cannabis policy since his diagnosis with multiple sclerosis (MS) in 1999. He has been a critical voice for marijuana policy reform, having stated that “medical marijuana has allowed me to live a productive, fruitful life despite having multiple sclerosis. Many thousands of others all over this country – less well-known than I but whose stories are just as real – have experienced the same thing.”

Texas is on the verge of implementing CBD laws, which represents the first step toward medical marijuana legalization. Texas has the second largest population in the country, and all eyes are on Texas to make history and move toward responsible legalization of medical marijuana in a show of compassion for the untold number of Texans who suffer from serious illness.

“Texas has the potential to become one of the largest markets for medical marijuana in the country,” said Rory Mendoza, founder of Southwest Cannabis Conference & Expo. “Having a very high profile advocate such as Montel Williams come to this historic event to share his story about how medical marijuana has changed his life, is a positive step in creating momentum towards necessary change.
